2024 SUMMER ART CAMP WORKSHOPS
with Ms. Sylvia and friends
Offered in person, in 2-week sessions.
Join Ms. Sylvia and Friends to create plein air fashions from nature. We will draw, paint, pastels, and collage. We will learn fashion design and create a wearable piece of art in a courtyard fashion show. We will accessorize with hats, capes, and fantasy masks. We will also study designer Yves St. Laurent. A wearable art show will be on display on the last day of class at 11:45 AM. Walking field trips will be included.
Masks are optional outside; masks are required inside.
Session 1. Plein Air Fashion and Design. Ages 11-15.
In addition to walking field trips and plein air, the students will learn the basic principles of fashion illustration, sewing techniques, and display.
Offerings are from 9 AM - 12 noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, June 4-6 and June 11-13. $315 / 2-week session. Extended lunch from 12-1 PM available each day for $25 a day.
Session 2. Plein Air and Fantasy Fashion. Ages 8-11.
In addition to walking field trips and plein air, the students will learn basic drawing techniques and how to take an idea from nature and create a unique fashion from it.
Offerings are from 9 AM - 12 noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, June 18-20 and June 25-27. $315 / 2-week session. Extended lunch from 12-1 PM available each day for $25 a day.
Session 3. Plein Air Cartooning and "What was that? A hat?" Ages 5-8.
In addition to walking field trips and plein air, the students will learn to look and create a hat from materials found in the world around us. Their hats will surprise you!
Offerings are from 9 AM - 12 noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, July 9-11 and July 16-18. $315 / 2-week session. Extended lunch from 12-1 PM available each day for $25 a day.
Ms. Sylvia is an art instigator and art director at Sycamore Place Gallery. She has a BFA in fine arts from Georgia State University and has been creating art at Sycamore Place for 25 years.
Ms. Nicole Haysler-Webb has been working with Ms. Sylvia for 6 years. She has a BFA in fine arts from UGA. You can check out her artwork on her Instagram page.
Ms. Xenia Zed worked in the visual arts community in Atlanta as a maker, writer, editor, gallerist, and educator. She holds graduate degrees in printmaking and art education from UGA and Georgia State.
